About DJ Soundwave: Embracing the love of music at the age of 13 when he purchased his first set of turntables DJ Soundwave knew that he was on a mission to rock with the best! His introduction to the world of music came from his parents, growing up in a house with walls vibrating to the sounds of Earth Wind & Fire, Frankie Beverly & Maze, Michael Jackson and The Commodores he had a love for rhythm and an urge to blend the beats from the very first verse. Shortly after high school and attending broadcasting school he was able to land an internship at Washington, DC’s #1 radio station WPGC 95.5FM (www.wpgc.com). Soundwave’s persistence soon turned his internship into a job and at the age of 19 he became the youngest mixer on WPGC. Then known as “Mr. Up & Coming”, DJ Soundwave began formulating incredible mixes that put him at the top of the game in the Washington, DC area securing him several night club appearances in the market. While simultaneously holding it down mixing at the station, mixing several nights a week at the hottest night clubs in the city and mixing for artists at various radio station promotions he learned how to master the art of the mixtape! Recently, DJ Soundwave was recognized by HipHopWired.com as the “DJ of the Week”.

Determined to grow in the industry he began to tap into the lifestyle of fashion mixing for some of the top urban retailers: Up Against the Wall and DTLR (formerly known as Downtown Locker Room). DTLR began to notice something special about him and his unique style for the craft that he had mastered. As DTLR became the top selling urban music lifestyle account in the industry Soundwave immediately became their “go to” guy for artist in-store promotions and events in the Washington, DC metropolitan area. Since then he has performed at various events and promotions alongside some of today’s top R&B and Hip-Hop Artist: Trey Songz, 50 Cent, Ciara, Fat Joe, T.I., Mario, Keyshia Cole, Jadakiss, Bobby Valentino and Jazmine Sullivan. Currently, DJ Soundwave serves as the producer, mixer, and co-host of DTLR’s national in-store promotion DTLR RADIO servicing over 68 DTLR store locations on the East Coast.

Over the past few years he has received an over whelming demand for appearances at various colleges and universities during the homecoming season in the mid-Atlantic region mixing at the Howard University Yard Fest (2008), Morgan State University, Hampton University, Towson University and Norfolk State University just to name a few.

In a very short period of time Soundwave has made tremendous strides. As a member of Street Jocks U.S.A., he continues to look forward to building more alliances in the DJ community.
