: CiennaJade grew up 20 minutes outside of the nation's capital in Reston, Virginia. She attended DC's Performing Arts High School, Duke Ellington. As a theater major and by her junior year of high school she had 2 songs playing on AOL radio and an album entitled "Locker Status" on iTunes. While studying at D.E.S.A. she caught the attention of Motown's, Kerry Gordy, who mentored her throughout her junior and senior years of high school. After graduating from high school, she moved to Harlem, New York City and attended a portion of the American Musical and Dramatic Academy's musical theater program.
CiennaJade is a dedicated indie artist who has been training in the performing arts since the age of three. She is an alternative R&B artist that grew up listening to 90's R&B legends such as Mary J. Blige, Mariah Carey, TLC, SWV, and Aaliyah. Her vulnerable lyrics, soulful voice, and edgy style have won her first place at Apollo amateur night and have gotten her performances at George Mason University, the Marine Corps Marathon, on the National Mall, and at numerous venues around the NYC area including Santos party house and shrine. Most recently CiennaJade was a contestant on season 3 of Fox's "The X-Factor" after auditioning in Long Island, New York.
Her EP "Too Much", includes musical influences that span from 90's R&B to urban pop, rock & dub step. The album features production from Filly The Classloser and was written in full by CiennaJade. In 2013, CiennaJade released, "Maybe It's Just Me", the first single and video off of the project.
