About Cuzzo: “Cuzzo” was born Trenton Philippeaux, the youngest of three, to a single mother in the Washington D.C. metropolitan area. His fathers’ presence had gone absent at age four. Trent’s mother went on to support the family, on her own, as a public school teacher. Trent was much younger than his siblings and by age eight, was left to be raised as an only child. Living just a few short miles away from the nations Capitol, times were tough for Trent and his mom as the common scrimmage against bill collectors and life began to mount. Amid the hardship, Trent managed to maintain and preserve a normal childhood. All things “normal” soon came to a very sudden halt, never to be the same again. As a young teenager, Trent was welcomed into his sisters’ family household after their mom fell ill and passed away. The changes in Trent’s way of life and being were tragic as his persona became quiet and withdrawn. Although Trent had known his brother-in-law for as long as he could remember, it was during this period of cohabitation that the two grew extremely close. As the elder, Chad took role in Trent’s life as role model and big brother. Trent soon began to portray a brand new outlook on life and promised himself that he would stay focused and goal-oriented with no tolerance for failure. Just as Trent’s grades started to excel, memories of his mothers’ struggles surfaced. Knowing his sister and her husband had a family of their own to care for; Trent made a attempt at easing there load, by taking his life into his own hands and turning to the streets in pursuit of making a way for himself. Trent soon completed high school and was later accepted into Morgan State University, School of Architecture, which he paid for tuition out of his own pocket. Trent also harbored an interest in the music industry. With a great deal of encouragement and assistance from Chad, he composed a mixtape named “I’m That Cuzzo” and later formed the record label “Linkin Records”. Chad used his own personal business to promote and distribute Trent’s music to the local and surrounding areas. Trent, now known as “Cuzzo”, had produced a successful project. With his first successful mixtape under his belt, he moved right along to his next project “Urban President”. At the start of this second project, tragedy struck again. One fatal car accident and Chad is gone. Confusion with life set in, in major ways. As an adult, this time Trent was better able to grieve, accept and pick up the pieces of his life and move forward as best he could. Driven with double the passion and determination, he released his first album “Urban President” and a year later released a successful mixtape "Inevitable". Through all the confusion that has been thrown in his path, today at 26 years old, Cuzzo is a remarkable, charismatic and resilient young man with both a modest attitude and a lyrical gift that speak for themselves. The world has no idea what awaits. It will soon be known why they call him “That Cuzzo”.
