About DJ Skeem: Michael Ortega (born, May 19 1989), known as DJ Skeem, is a DJ in the D.C., Maryland, and Virginia area with a large and loyal fan base. Born in Silver Spring, Maryland, he now resides in Fairfax, Virginia.

Skeem began to DJ at the age of 16, when after playing around on his computer one night, he discovered that he had an ear for knowing what songs would blend well together. By the age of 18, he was spinning at teen venues that boasted more than 800 people, in Virginia and Maryland. He later made connections with Hypnotic Productions, who would begin to introduce him to the club scene. After a few years, he met Rafael Ulloa, of Ullork Media, who quickly realized the talent that DJ Skeem possessed. Rafael became Skeem’s manager and partner, and together they set out to make Skeem a nationally recognized name in the music industry.

Skeem’s early influences were DJ Jazzy Jeff and Q-bert. It was while listening to them perform that he began to formulate his own unique style that he is known for today. Dj Skeem’s strongest areas of music & favorable consist of hip-hop, old school, R&B and dancehall. Same goes with the genres of house, electro, Dubstep, techno, trance, rock/mashups, pop and top 40! However, he doesn’t cater only to an American audience as he is equally mixes an impressive array of Latin music as well that includes merengue, salsa and reggaeton. He rounds out his Latin mixes with bachata, cumbia and much more, with all that put together you have one of the greatest diverse DJ’s in the DMV area.
