Q: Where are you from?
A: I am from the DMV, specifically Washington county near Hagerstown. I don't really like living in my hometown but when I'm out of town I kinda miss it.
Q: How did you get your start in music?
A: My father was a musician and I was always really interested in music when I was younger. When I was sixteen I started making music just for fun and used it as a way to vent and get out of my head when I was going through rough times and then as I kept up with it and took it more seriously my music career took off.
Q: Who/what are some of your musical influences?
A: I have an extremely wide range of musical influences. I take inspiration from artists of all eras and genres of music from the rockstars of the 80’s all the way to modern rappers like Lil Uzi and Juice Wrld. I also take a lot of inspiration from 90’s rock bands like Blink-182 and Sum 41. I really like their sound and nostalgic vibe.
Q: Who would you like to collab with?
A: Lil Uzi and Avril Lavigne
Q: What makes you different from other music artists?
A: First off, I'm dope as hell. Second, I'm a very well rounded artist and I can make a banger in any genre.
Q: Describe your creative process when you make new music?
A: The music I put out is a direct reflection of my life and emotions at that period of time. Like if i'm going through a rough patch I can only record sad emotional music but if im feeling really good and life is going good for me ill record happy upbeat music. I can never force myself to record music that doesn't relate to how I'm feeling in the moment because then my music wouldn't feel as authentic.
Q: What are you working on right now?
A: I have a bunch of collabs coming up soon that I'm really excited about. I also have an album called This is How The World Ends that's been in the works for a while now. I can't wait to drop this album. I've put so much time and effort into it and I know my fans are anticipating this album so I'm just taking my time perfecting it. The process of dropping an album has been extremely stressful.
Q: Who are your biggest supporters?
A: I have a very small circle of people who have really stuck by me and supported my music career from day one. Without these people I wouldn't be anywhere nearly as successful in music as I am. G Brewah is a fellow musician and friend of mine who has supported me throughout the years and I have him to thank for helping me get to where I am today. A couple other people I'd like to thank would be Xdiety and Napz.
Q: Where do you see yourself in a few years?
A: Ideally somewhere warm without a care in the world.
Q: If you could change anything about the industry what would it be?
A: The relationship between artists and labels needs to change. The music industry can be extremely grimey and artists get screwed over by record labels that they've signed to all the time. Also I hate how fast information spreads throughout people in the industry like once one person knows your business the whole world knows.
Q: What is one message you want to give your fans?
A: I just want to sincerely thank everyone who listens to my music and supports me. I wouldn't be anywhere near where I am right now without my fanbase. You guys are the best<3
Q: What advice do you have for artists on the come up?
A: Don't take advice from people who don't know what they're talking about. Also you're never gonna make it in music if you don’t believe you can make it. It takes a lot of time and effort to be an artist but if you do it right and are invested and driven you can make it.
Q: Where can people find you on social media?
A: On my instagram
@King_Beachley and on all other platforms as King Locus.
