About Slick Nova: S.L.I.C.K. A.K.A. Slick Nova starts his career in music from the same Eleanor Roosevelt High School stomping grounds as well known DMV based band "Black Diamond" and Rapper "Uptown XO." S.L.I.C.K. began his claim to fame in 2005 on the U street scene in Washington D.C. Persistently showing up at open mic showcases weekly in between his graphic design classes at the Art Institute of Washington. As a 18 yr. old producer turned rapper he hit all the venues that DMV host Dre All Day notified him of including the Legends Nightclub, Club Envy(later renamed DC Star),and especially the historically known U-Turn. After withdrawing his self from the Art Institute of Washington in 2006 he decided that he would pursue his musical dreams full force while taking classes at PG Community College, where he later met up with other DMV artist such as Chris Barz, and Lyriciss at the schools weekly showcase. S.L.I.C.K. and other members of his rap quartet the 4 F.O.E.S. got the attention of A & R Brandon Bordenax because of their energetic live shows at the time. The group shortly went their separate ways after their label deal fell through and S.L.I.C.K. decided to take a push at starting his own independent record label along with Co Founder’s Scoop Diddis of Bearak8d Productions and Mr. Fairmount from Mr. Fairmount Studios. By way of Scoop Diddis, he linked up with DMV rapper Ra the Mc and they immediately cliqued. He reappeared on the scene as her “Scice-Man” and they later got together with Scoop Diddis, Potsie of Bearak8d productions, and UV to form the band Shades of Green who he performed with for two years while also performing his own original material at local open mic events. During this time period he came in contact with mainstream artist such as Curren$y, Freddie Gibbs, J. Cole, Freeway, Bigdaddy kane, Bobby Creekwater , and many others. As time went by Nova as they now call him still in conjunction with Scoop Diddis and others decided to start a new Indie Venture Called the Umbrella Corporation along with Super Hero Supreme form the underground group the W.E.A.K.. The venture called for a different type of knowledge so he reenrolled at the Omega Technical school for recording engineering where he completed the REST Comprehension,Music Business, and Live Sound programs. with the Umbrella Corporation on the rise as a multimedia tool he has got to work with a multitude of artist from all over the dmv where they are currently still working.
