About Haydn Stone: Haydn Stone (formerly O.Smith) is a rapper/songwriter from the DMV area, and co-founder of the former hip hop group, DeepSpace. A talented lyricist with unique wordplay and insightful content, as well as an ear for melodies and harmonies, his musical pieces combine recollections of everyday life with ambitions of grandeur only seen in our wildest dreams.
Haydn Stone started writing music in 1996 when he was just 9 years old. After receiving positive feedback at his first performance, he began to pursue music through the attendance of talent shows, competitions, and even battled fellow artists in high school. By the time he began taking classes at UMBC, Haydn Stone had already completed three full-length projects, which he sold to his friends and family. While at UMBC, Haydn Stone started the hip hop group, Deep Space, with producer/rapper J Rocketman. Together, the duo released 3 mixtapes and gained a buzz in the DMV area with the hard-hitting, go-go influenced single “Transformers.” During this time, a verse written by Haydn Stone was selected to appear among the top 10 finalists nationwide for the ‘Searching’ competition hosted by Young Chris.
His latest project, “The Office Space EP,” showcases a variety of sounds, topics, and emotions from the perspective of an individual trying to balance his duties at a regular occupation while dealing with an ever-growing passion to accomplish his dreams of success. With the release of this project, Haydn Stone hopes to reach out to every individual who isn’t afraid to fight through the pressures of everyday life and chase their dreams at all costs.
