Mixtape Review: The Oy Boyz made their mark on DMV music culture long ago and their rise to success has been a steady one ever since. The Oy Boyz consist of: the sexy songbird Jus Paul aka The Prince of Ratchet R&B, Oneway Nooch the fire-spitter with clever lyrical jabs, Young Cerda a dirty south rapper straight out of Baton Rouge, Louisiana with a swag reminiscent of early TIP and widely known business gurus and artists in their own right, Oneway Boobe and Don Choo.
Each artist has given the DMV mixtapes individually, highlighting their immense talents. In this first fully collaborative project entitled Oyminati, fans have become completely aware of why this team of gentlemen remain to be such a powerhouse. Executive producers Oneway Boobe and Don Choo provided excellent arrangement and track selections while recording engineer David Knocks put a special “House Studios touch” on each track. The results were a clean delivery, deep hard-hitting bass and delightful melodies.
Oyminati provides strong lyrical content touching on topics such as street culture, sex and the everyday hustle while still keeping things light hearted and fun. Tracks like “Do It for a Big Bank Roll” are sure to get the party started and “Memory” gives that nostalgic nineties hip-hop feel. From start to finish you can hear this album was a journey and the product of that journey is a collection of quality music. By: Ambre 'MzGreenEyez' Tomlinson (@MissGreenEyez)
